Waymo, the autonomous driving unit of Alphabet Inc., has launched its driverless taxi service, Waymo One, to all customers in San Francisco. Previously, customers had to sign up for a waitlist, but now they can download the app for immediate rides. Waymo’s electric fleet has helped reduce carbon emissions by 570,000 kg.
Waymo One in San Francisco offers safe, reliable transportation with tens of thousands of weekly trips. 30 percent of rides are to local businesses, while 36 percent of riders use Waymo to connect to other forms of transit. Waymo’s focus on sustainability includes using 100 percent renewable energy.
A recent survey shows that 53 percent of Waymo users feel the service has helped them be more environmentally friendly. Over 15 years of experience and more than 20 million rider-only miles highlight Waymo’s commitment to safe and convenient autonomous driving.
