Best performing funds in 2024 are in technology and India, while funds related to climate change saw losses.

As we reach the midpoint of 2024, it’s time to assess fund performance. Almost 90% of the 3,112 funds in the UK dataset are up this year, with the best performer rising 30.45%. India equity leads with a 16.23% return. Technology and large-cap funds dominate, with Neuberger Berman 5G Connectivity Fund leading with a 30.45% rise.

In the second quarter, the top three performing funds were focused on technology, with the Neuberger Berman 5G Connectivity Fund up 9.02%, Janus Henderson Global Technology Leaders Fund up 9.20%, and Legal & General Global Technology Index Trust up 13.97%. Latin American and small-cap funds struggled, with the HSBC Global Investment Funds – Brazil Equity leading in losses.

June saw positive returns for three quarters of funds, with technology and India leading the pack. The FSSA Asia All-Cap Fund gained 12.21%, while the GMO Climate Change Investment Fund fell 9.01%. Overall, funds tied to climate change and energy transition saw the biggest losses.
