Ford reported a 1% sales increase in the second quarter, with truck sales up 5% to a total of 308,920 vehicles, its best performance since 2019. Ford’s EV sales surged 61% to 23,957 vehicles, led by the popular Mustang Mach-E and F-150 Lightning models. Hybrid vehicle sales reached a record high of 53,822, up 56%, aiding in the transition to EVs and meeting fuel efficiency standards.
General Motors also reported a 0.6% sales increase in the second quarter, totaling 696,086 vehicles, the highest since 2020. Both automakers’ sales growth exceeded industry expectations, as forecasters projected a flat year-over-year sales trend. Ford and GM’s steady sales growth showcases continued consumer demand in the auto industry amidst the EV transition.
