Apple has approved Epic Games’ games marketplace app on iPhones and iPads in Europe amidst feud accusations. The latest dispute is over Epic Sweden AB Marketplace, not Fortnite. Antitrust regulators criticize Apple’s control over iOS app ecosystem. Epic claims Apple’s rejection of their app design is arbitrary and in violation of the DMA.

The European Commission is investigating Apple’s validation processes for apps and alternative app stores. Epic and Apple have been in a legal battle since 2020 over Apple’s 30% commission on in-app payments. Apple proposed changes to comply with DMA directives, allowing alternative app stores but imposing a “core technology fee” some developers find exploitative.
