UiPath stock growth potential compared to Microsoft, faces competition and leadership changes

From CNBC: 2024-07-16 20:15:00

UiPath (NYSE: PATH) is a small company compared to Microsoft, with a market cap of $7.2 billion. However, Microsoft itself was valued at $7.2 billion in 1990 before growing to $211.9 billion in revenue by 2023.

UiPath offers RPA tools that automate tasks like data entry and processing invoices, controlling a third of the market. Its revenue grew at a CAGR of 40% from fiscal 2020 to 2024.

Despite positive growth, UiPath cut its revenue forecast citing macro headwinds and competition from generative AI tools. Abrupt CEO changes raised concerns, but if it can match market growth rates, it could reach $200 billion in revenue by 2050.

Analysts predict UiPath’s revenue will grow at a slower rate of 10% from fiscal 2024 to 2027, and project ongoing losses. Microsoft, on the other hand, is expected to see revenue growth and could reach $3 trillion in revenue by 2050.

Investors looking at UiPath should consider its challenges and competitive landscape. The Motley Fool’s Stock Advisor team has identified 10 best stocks for investment, but UiPath did not make the list.
