FTSE indexes rise on positive corporate updates, mixed earnings

London stocks rose on Thursday as mixed corporate earnings were reported. British wages slowed but remained too high for Bank of England’s 2% inflation target. FTSE 100 was up 0.8% and FTSE 250 gained 0.2%. Weekly earnings grew by 5.7%, raising odds of a rate cut next month to 39.1%. Energy shares climbed 1.4% on higher oil prices. Frasers topped FTSE 100 with a 7.6% jump in profit. Diploma Plc was the top loser with a 3.1% decline. Dunelm Group forecast higher profits and jumped 7.1%. AJ Bell gained 2.9% on a 20% rise in assets. Investment sector traded 1.8% higher.
