Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) experienced disruptions in its Azure and Office365 services, leading to the grounding of flights by two low-cost U.S. airlines. The stock dropped over 1% in pre-market trading as a result.
Frontier Airlines reported that its systems were slowly returning to normal after the “Microsoft outage” caused flight delays. Sun Country Airlines also grounded flights due to a global outage from an “information vendor.”
Microsoft acknowledged the Azure cloud computing platform outage, caused by a configuration change affecting connectivity between storage and compute resources. Mitigation efforts were underway, but full service restoration was not confirmed.
Despite efforts to mitigate the Azure service disruption, Microsoft’s 365 service continued to experience “degradation,” preventing users from accessing various apps and services. The company was actively working to resolve the ongoing issues.
