Wall Street closes mixed ahead of key earnings and Fed meeting, with some gains in tech.

Wall Street indices closed mixed on Monday (July 29) ahead of a busy week of earnings reports and a Federal Reserve meeting. The S&P 500 edged up 0.1%, while the Dow Jones slipped 0.1% and the Nasdaq rose 0.1%. ON Semiconductor led with an 11.5% gain, McDonald’s shares rose 3.7%, but reported a drop in sales, while Abbott Labs closed down 0.4%. Crypto stock trading was choppy. Reports from major tech companies are expected this week, along with a Federal Reserve meeting. Investors are waiting for the July non-farm payrolls report on Friday for signs of weakness in the labor market.
