AMD is making significant strides in the server market, with its CPU instance share increasing by 20 bps in June to reach 21.2%. Analysts credit this growth to the popularity of its EPYC Genoa processors and older chips like Milan and Rome.

Jefferies highlights AMD’s consistent momentum in the server market, outpacing its total market share over the past six months. The company’s success is attributed to strong demand for EPYC Genoa and a resurgence in older generation processors like Milan and Naples.

On the flip side, Intel’s server market position continues to weaken, with its share declining by 30 bps in June to 69.2%. This marks the 12th straight month of flat or declining share for Intel, despite the launch of newer processors like Sapphire Rapids and Emerald Rapids.

Along with gains in the server market, AMD also saw a small increase in AI instances, capturing 13% of new AI instance additions in June. This is significantly higher than its overall AI share of 1.4%, showcasing the company’s growth potential in this sector.
