Bangladesh’s chief justice and central bank governor resign amid widening student protests targeting officials appointed during Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s regime. Chief Justice Obaidul Hassan and Governor Abdur Rouf Talukder have both resigned, with Talukder’s resignation not yet accepted due to the importance of his position. Recently, four deputy governors were forced to resign over corruption allegations. The situation led to Hasina fleeing to New Delhi after an uprising that resulted in the deaths of around 300 people, many of them students, ending her 15-year rule in the country.
