Quidax, a Nigerian cryptocurrency exchange, has become the first platform to be licensed by the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) in the country. This move marks a significant step in the regulation of crypto trading in Nigeria.
The SEC has approved Quidax to trade five cryptocurrencies, including Bitcoin and Ethereum. The exchange has also been given the green light to carry out e-token offerings following its compliance with the regulatory requirements.
As the regulatory environment continues to evolve, other local exchanges will likely follow Quidax’s lead and seek to meet the SEC’s requirements. This trend is expected to bring greater transparency and legitimacy to the cryptocurrency market in Nigeria.
