Apple’s partnership with India’s Bharti Airtel will offer free music and video streaming to 281 million customers. The move aims to boost Apple TV+ and Apple Music in a country where Apple faces tough competition from Spotify and Disney. India is a key market for Apple, which has been focusing on services to diversify beyond hardware manufacturing. Apple Music, tailored for the Indian market, has 200,000 users compared to Spotify’s 3 million paid users in India. Airtel plans to offer Apple TV+ packages with free access to boost Apple’s presence in the Indian video streaming market. Apple’s partnership with Airtel will save the telecom company licensing fees as they look to close down Wynk and leverage Apple Music for revenue growth and customer loyalty.
