In August 2024, Ford Motor’s U.S. vehicle sales surged by 13.4%, with nearly 183,000 vehicles sold. Sales were led by F-Series trucks and hybrid models, with a 12.3% increase in trucks and a 50% jump in hybrid vehicles compared to the previous year. Electric vehicle sales rose by 29%, including the F-150 Lightning pickup.

While Ford’s electrified vehicle sales grew, traditional internal combustion engine vehicles represented 86% of sales. Ford’s August sales outpaced industry estimates of a 6% year-over-year increase, with a notable rise in hybrid and electric vehicle sales.

U.S. auto sales remained stable in 2024, despite steep prices and high interest rates. Barclays lowered its 2024 sales forecast from 16 million to 15.8 million vehicles, citing a 15.7 million sales pace through August. Ford’s U.S. sales through August increased by 4.3% to 1.4 million units.

In addition to Ford, the Hyundai brand reported a 22% increase in sales last month compared to August 2023. The strong performance of Ford and Hyundai reflects the continued demand for vehicles in the U.S. market, despite economic challenges.
