Palantir and Dell will be added to the S&P 500, causing their stocks to rise

Palantir Technologies, Dell Technologies, and Erie Indemnity will join the S&P 500 index on September 23, replacing American Airlines, Etsy, and Bio-Rad Laboratories. Palantir’s stock rose nearly 7% late, approaching a three-year high. Dell’s stock jumped 7% in extended trading, while shares of Erie gained about 4%, signaling a record high. There has been significant buzz around all three companies joining the S&P 500 throughout the year. American Airlines, Etsy, and Bio-Rad Labs will move down to the S&P MidCap and S&P SmallCap indices. The changes will take effect before the market opens on Monday.
