PLTR, DELL & ERIE to be added to S&P 500
September 09, 2024
Investors are celebrating the arrival of three new stocks on the S&P 500 index: Palantir Technologies,
Dell Technologies and Erie Indemnity. The Palantir Technologies, Dell, and Erie replaced American
Airlines, Etsy, and medical testing instruments developer Bio-Rad Laboratories respectively, after the
close of trading on Friday. The changes will take place at the close of trading on 23 September.
Palantir’s stock was up 12%, Dell’s 4.9%, and Erie’s 5.6%. Investors anticipate that funds tied to the S&P
500 will buy up shares of these companies.
Meanwhile, the stocks removed from the S&P 500 rebounded nicely. American Airlines climbed by 2.9%,
Etsy gained 1.9%, and Bio-Rad sank a mere 0.1%.
