Ford Motor is launching the “Ford Power Promise” program to boost sales of electric vehicles by offering free home-charging installation and other benefits. The program targets concerns such as costs and charging infrastructure to educate new EV owners as sales grow slowly due to various hurdles.
The program includes standard home charger installation worth $1,310, 24-hour advisor service, and roadside assistance for five years. Customers opting out receive a $2,000 cash equivalent. Ford aims to extend its existing battery warranty awareness and coverage, emphasizing customer support and service reliability for EV buyers.
Ford ranks third in EV sales behind Tesla and Hyundai Motor, facing challenges as EVs are less profitable than gas models but crucial for meeting fuel economy standards and growth. Legacy automakers struggle to expand EV sales due to cost and infrastructure hurdles, necessitating innovative programs like the “Ford Power Promise.”
