Impulse, a space startup led by rocket specialist Tom Mueller, raised $150 million to develop orbital transfer vehicles. The company already built two vehicles, Mira and Helios, to deliver payloads to specific destinations in space. Impulse’s success with its first mission propelled customer engagement and secured contracts from commercial and government entities.
Impulse plans to launch LEO Express-2 later this year, followed by updated versions of Mira and Helios. The company aims to debut GEO Rideshare missions by 2027. Mueller founded Impulse after leaving SpaceX, where he worked for nearly two decades. Despite SpaceX’s delayed commercial flights, Impulse sees an opportunity to provide in-space delivery systems.
Impulse’s current facility in Redondo Beach supports the production of Mira spacecraft. With 140 employees, the company plans to expand to over 200 next year. Mueller expressed confidence in scaling production and making progress after securing funding. Impulse collaborates with venture investors to innovate in the growing space industry and revolutionize in-space delivery systems.
