Google is seeking a pause on a federal order to open up its app store Play for more competition, citing safety and security risks. The order, set to take effect on Nov. 1, stems from an antitrust case brought by Epic Games. Google is pursuing an appeal while seeking a stay on the injunction.

If the judge denies Google’s request, they can turn to the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in San Francisco to put the injunction on hold while appealing the antitrust verdict. Google filed its notice of appeal on Thursday, with the appeals court expected to rule on the challenge to the order.
