Private equity billionaire Tom Gores is set to purchase a 27% stake in the NFL’s Los Angeles Chargers for $750 million, valuing the team at $4 billion. Gores will not have control over team decisions, with a 10% “flip tax” payable upon sale. The deal will resolve legal disputes among the Spanos family members. Gores also owns the Detroit Pistons and prefers renting sports stadiums.
