University of Hong Kong grads create AI-driven sea-cleaning boat prototype from empty water bottles, hobbyist helicopter blades, and GoPro camera. Clearbot removes 85% of ocean litter, aiming to prevent 11 million metric tons of trash from entering oceans annually.
Clearbot’s autonomous trash collection boats are powered by NVIDIA Jetson, with electric-powered vessels that self-dock at solar charging stations. Clearbot aims for 100% emissions-free cleaning to repair humanity’s broken relationship with the ocean and enhance environmental outcomes.
Clearbot partners with Kingspan to remove 1.2 tons of waste monthly from Indian rivers and lakes. Cleaning operations in Umiam Lake with UC Berkeley Haas School of Business have led to the removal of 15 tons of waste in just three months.
Clearbot expands its services beyond trash collection to address broader environmental issues like pollution control and undersea inspections. The data collected by Clearbot is geotagged, enabling local agencies to track pollution sources and implement mitigation strategies effectively.
