Top universities are introducing programs aimed at training the next generation of family office leaders, with the University of Chicago Booth School of Business launching the Booth Family Office Initiative. The initiative includes research programs, courses, and a council of 50 family office leaders steering the program. Family offices are on the rise, with more than 8,000 in 2021, up from 6,000 in 2019, and their assets expected to reach $5.4 trillion by 2030. Universities such as Booth and Wharton are tapping into this growth, offering research, courses, and non-commercial gatherings for family office professionals. Booth’s Family Office Summit and Wharton’s Family Office Roundtable Forum provide opportunities for families to share ideas and perspectives without a commercial agenda.
