Chick-fil-A to release entertainment app Play with shows and podcasts

From CNBC: 2024-10-21 08:30:01

Chick-fil-A plans to launch a new app on Nov. 18 offering animated shows, podcasts, games, recipes and e-books for families, to drive more customers to its 3,000+ restaurants. Revenue reached $7.89 billion last year, making it the third-biggest restaurant chain in the U.S. behind Starbucks and McDonald’s.

The app aims to appeal to families and children, with content focusing on themes like generosity, friendship, problem-solving, and creativity. Episodes of shows like “Legends of Evergreen Hills” and “Hidden Island” will be released weekly through the holidays, with new series planned for next year.

Chick-fil-A’s move into content creation follows a trend of restaurants becoming media brands to sell more products. Brands like Starbucks and Chuck E. Cheese are also entering original content creation to connect with consumers and drive sales. Chick-fil-A has the cash and flexibility to experiment with this strategy due to its rapid growth and family-owned structure.
