Scout Motors has unveiled electric vehicle concepts for a pickup truck and SUV, targeting a 40% share of the U.S. sales market. The company plans to manufacture these vehicles in South Carolina and achieve profitability within a year of production. Scout aims to differentiate itself with products, pricing, and brand appeal.
The pickup truck and SUV models, the Terra and Traveler, respectively, are planned for release in 2027 and are priced between $50,000 and $60,000. The EREVs have an expected range of over 500 miles and will use an 800-volt architecture for up to 350-kilowatt charging capability. These vehicles will act as generators with bi-directional charging.
Scout aims to compete with established SUVs like Jeep and off-road models like Wrangler, as well as full-size pickup trucks from Ford and GM. The electric truck market has seen growth, with nearly 58,000 vehicles sold in the first half of the year. Scout hopes to stand out with lower pricing and unique products, targeting a successful market entry with its two debut vehicles.
