McDonald’s is set to announce its third-quarter earnings with analysts expecting earnings per share of $3.20 and revenue of $6.82 billion. The company faced an E. coli outbreak linked to Quarter Pounder burgers, leading to temporary removal from some U.S. restaurants. Health authorities have identified slivered onions as the likely source of the outbreak, with 75 cases reported, including one death.

Sales at McDonald’s were already declining before the outbreak, with analysts predicting a 0.6% drop in same-store sales for the third quarter. The company has been introducing value menus and combo meals to attract customers amid lower dining out rates due to inflation concerns. Shares have fallen 6% since the outbreak, with a market cap of $210 billion.
