Bitcoin miner Hive Digital is expanding into Paraguay, purchasing 6,500 Canaan Avalon A1566 ASICs to upgrade its infrastructure. The new ASICs will increase Hive Digital’s hash rate from 5.6 EH/s to 6 EH/s by March 2025. Canaan CEO praised Hive Digital for its high Bitcoin production efficiency and commitment to transparency.

Following the ASICs delivery, Hive Digital’s mining capacity in Paraguay will increase by 30 MW, aiming for a hash rate of 8 EH/s by the end of the second quarter. The new ASICs will improve efficiency from 22.3 J/th to 20.5 J/th. Canaan also sold 3,800 Avalon A1566I Immersion Cooling Miners to CleanSpark.

Hive Digital previously announced its expansion to Paraguay with a planned 100 MW facility, aiming for a hash rate of 12.5 EH/s and fleet efficiency of 17.6 J/th. The company also operates facilities in Canada, Sweden, and Iceland, with a focus on AI data centers using Nvidia GPUs.
