The FTSE 100 is far from its record high of 8,445.80 points, currently at 8,082 points. Morningstar UK index is up 8.40% year-to-date but down 2% over the last month due to Trump’s election and tariffs on imports.
Housebuilders like Vistry Group and Persimmon, Mondi, AstraZeneca, and Schroders are dragging down the FTSE 100. Vistry Group issued a second profit warning due to cost overruns, causing its share price to plummet. Mondi’s share price fell due to maintenance shutdowns and higher input costs.
Persimmon is on track to build 10,500 homes this year, but faces inflationary pressure due to the Future Homes Standard. AstraZeneca is under investigation for illegally importing cancer drugs into China, impacting its business. Schroders has seen net outflows, with the new CEO working to revive the company’s fortunes.
