Bitcoin’s price dipped as the push to break $100,000 stalled amid uncertainty over Trump’s stance on crypto. It traded at $97,880.9 after hitting record highs last week. Trump’s Treasury pick, Bessent, supports crypto and is seen as a moderate choice. Cantor Fitzgerald is in talks with Tether for a Bitcoin lending program.
Altcoins followed Bitcoin’s losses, with Ethereum dropping 0.9% to $3,385.74. XRP fell 0.6% to $1.4547 after Gensler’s resignation hinted at a more lenient SEC stance on crypto. Other cryptos like Litecoin and Dogecoin also saw declines. Meme token Shiba Inu fell 2.4%.
