The Indian antitrust regulator denied Apple’s request to halt an investigation report finding the tech giant in violation of competition laws. The case focuses on Apple’s app store practices on its iOS operating system, alleging abuse of dominant market position. Apple faces potential monetary penalties pending a final ruling by the CCI.

In August, the CCI ordered a recall of two investigation reports on Apple’s alleged competition law breaches. The case involves claims that Apple forced developers to use its in-app purchase system at a fee of up to 30 percent. Apple denied wrongdoing but faces scrutiny from regulators in various countries.

Apple accused Indian non-profit TWFS of non-compliance with directives to destroy old investigation reports. The CCI rejected Apple’s request to hold the investigation report, prompting a request for audited financial statements. The CCI will determine potential penalties as part of the ongoing investigation into Apple’s app store practices.

In Europe, Apple was fined over 1.8 billion euros for abusing its dominant position through its App Store. The tech giant faces antitrust investigations and orders in various countries, including Japan and Korea. The CCI will make a final ruling on the case following a review of the investigation report by senior officials.
