Taiwan stocks close lower at 1-month low, with Taiex down 1.52%

Taiwan stocks closed lower, with the Taiex falling 1.52% to a 1-month low. In Win Development Inc was the top performer, rising 9.95%, while Lead Data Inc was the worst performer, dropping 9.85%. Arima Communications Corp hit a 3-year high, while Logah Technology Corp hit a 3-year low.

In commodities trading, crude oil prices fell slightly, with January delivery down to $68.64 a barrel. The US Dollar Index Futures rose 0.18% to 106.24. The USD/TWD exchange rate was up 0.22% at 32.55, while TWD/CNY remained unchanged at 0.22.

Overall, falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Taiwan Stock Exchange. Avision Inc and Farglory Land Development Co Ltd were also notable gainers and losers during the session. Brent oil for delivery in February fell to $72.25 a barrel, while February Gold Futures dropped to $2,655.85 a troy ounce.
