On Nov. 28, 2012, Bitcoin had its first halving event, reducing the block reward from 50 BTC to 25 BTC. The halving mechanism, set to occur every four years, was created by Satoshi Nakamoto. Bitcoin’s price was $12.20 at the time, but it eventually surged to over $1,000 by the end of 2013.
Bitcoin’s recent price movement saw it climb towards $100,000, reaching $97,000 before dropping. The digital asset hit $99,728 on Friday but fell to $90,682 before rebounding. The dip was attributed to profit-taking and macroeconomic concerns as Bitcoin nears the historic $100,000 mark.
