Japan stocks closed higher on Monday, with gains in the technology and healthcare sectors. The Nikkei 225 index rose by 0.92%. Top performers included Fujikura Ltd, Dai-ichi Life Holdings Inc, and Hitachi Ltd. Shiseido Co., Ltd. and Dai Nippon Printing Co., Ltd. were among the worst performers. Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange.

Shiseido Co., Ltd. hit 5-year lows, dropping by 6.62%, while Dai Nippon Printing Co., Ltd. reached 3-year lows, losing 1.49%. The Nikkei Volatility Index was down by 7.31%. Crude oil prices rose, with January delivery up to $68.57 a barrel. Gold futures fell to $2,650.09 a troy ounce.

The USD/JPY pair rose by 0.41% to 150.37, while EUR/JPY increased by 0.13% to 158.33. The US Dollar Index Futures also went up by 0.34% to 106.19.
