Security experts warn that the first 48 hours are crucial in catching the gunman, who remains unidentified.

A discarded backpack believed to be the suspect’s was found in Central Park, potentially loaded with evidence. Police have released multiple photos of the suspect, who fled the scene on an electric bicycle and disappeared into Central Park. The suspect, who arrived in NYC 10 days before the shooting, has not been publicly identified.

UnitedHealth, the largest U.S. health insurer, tightened security measures following the attack. Shell casings found at the scene had the words “deny,” “defend,” and “depose” carved into them. Police sources suggest the perpetrator was experienced with firearms based on how the shooting was carried out.

Police are offering a $10,000 reward for information leading to an arrest and conviction. Detectives believe the suspect waited for Thompson outside a hotel before fatally shooting him. Security video footage captured the suspect lowering his mask during a flirtatious moment, providing the best clue to identifying him.
