Authorities are closing in on the suspect in the killing of UnitedHealth executive Brian Thompson, according to NYC Mayor Eric Adams. The shooting, described as a targeted attack, occurred just before the company’s annual investor conference. The suspect, seen fleeing on a bike, remains at large.

Police are withholding the suspect’s name to prevent him from gaining an advantage. Surveillance footage shows the suspect entering a bus terminal, leading authorities to believe he may have left NYC. The attack on Thompson, which resulted in his death, appeared premeditated, with the shooter’s motive still unknown.

Thompson, a married father of two, was the CEO of UnitedHealth’s insurance unit. UnitedHealth is the largest U.S. health insurer, serving millions of Americans. The suspect, captured on security footage, is the focus of a high-profile manhunt as authorities work to bring him to justice.
