Despite the limits of scaling up data for AI systems, innovations like ChatGPT have garnered global acclaim. Sutskever proposes new ways to push the frontier, foreseeing a future of superintelligent machines with deep understanding and self-awareness. However, he warns that increased reasoning could lead to unpredictable outcomes, citing examples like AlphaGo’s surprising moves in defeating human experts in 2016. AI, he says, will be “radically different” in the future.
