Starbucks workers expand strike to four new U.S. cities, including New York. The five-day strike, now in 10 cities, began in Los Angeles, Chicago, and Seattle. Starbucks did not comment. Talks with union stalled on wages, staffing, and schedules. Workers United warns strike could impact Christmas sales, reaching “hundreds of stores” by Christmas Eve.
Negotiations between Starbucks and union started in April. Eight bargaining sessions led to 30 agreements this month. Starbucks has over 11,000 U.S. stores, employing around 200,000 workers.
