Espey Mfg. & Electronics Corp. has secured a new contract worth $29.5 million to provide electric power distribution panels for the U.S. Navy’s Columbia class submarines. This contract, awarded by General Dynamics Electric Boat and the U.S. Navy, will see Espey manufacturing components for the next-generation ballistic missile submarine fleet. The Columbia class submarines, designed to replace the Ohio class submarines, rely on a unique electric drive propulsion system. Deliveries under the contract are expected through 2030 for 4 out of the 12 planned ships. Espey’s CEO, Mr. David O’Neil, expressed pride in being a key supplier for this crucial program.
