Weekly jobless claims in the US slightly decreased to 219,000, lower than expected.

First-time claims for U.S. unemployment benefits slightly decreased to 219,000 in the week ended December 21st, lower than economists’ expectations of 224,000. The four-week moving average rose to 226,500. Continuing claims increased by 46,000 to 1.910 million, the highest level since November 2021, with the four-week moving average rising to 1,881,000.
