LL Bean settled a lawsuit with Skechers USA, agreeing to stop selling shoes that allegedly copied Skechers’ patented design. U.S. District Judge approved an injunction preventing LL Bean from infringing on Skechers’ design patents until they expire in 2038. Other settlement terms were not disclosed. Both companies have not commented on the settlement.

Founded in 1912, LL Bean faced allegations from Skechers, founded in 1992, over its Freeport shoes. The lawsuit claimed LL Bean’s shoes infringed on Skechers’ patented heel cup design. LL Bean is based in Maine, while Skechers is based in California. The case is listed as Skechers USA Inc v LL Bean Inc in the U.S. District Court.
