Japan’s Nippon Steel offers the U.S. government veto power over U.S. Steel production cuts to gain approval for acquisition. The Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States (CFIUS) referred decision to President Biden, who must decide by Jan. 7. Nippon Steel pledges 10-year commitment to not cut production capacity without approval.
