The Australian market is trading slightly higher on Thursday, recouping losses from the previous two sessions. The S&P/ASX 200 is below 8,100, with gains in iron ore miners and energy stocks. Major miners like Fortescue Metals, BHP Group, and Rio Tinto are up, while Oil stocks like Woodside Energy and Santos are mostly higher. In the tech sector, Afterpay owner Block is down, while WiseTech Global and Appen are up. Australian home values declined by 0.1% in December 2024, the first decrease in nearly two years. The Judo Bank Australia Manufacturing PMI fell to 47.8 in December. The Aussie dollar is trading at $0.620. On Wall Street and major European markets were closed for New Year holiday on Wednesday.
