Morgan Stanley leaves Net-Zero Banking Alliance without giving a reason

Morgan Stanley has announced its departure from the Net-Zero Banking Alliance, a global climate coalition, without giving a reason. The move comes amid pressure from U.S. Republican politicians over limiting finance to fossil fuel companies. Despite leaving the NZBA, the bank remains committed to helping the world transition to net-zero carbon emissions.
The bank will continue to report on efforts to reduce emissions tied to its loan book and work towards previously set 2030 targets. Morgan Stanley’s decision to leave the NZBA follows similar moves by Citigroup, Bank of America, Wells Fargo, and Goldman Sachs in recent weeks.
