Energy prices are surging at the start of the year due to tight bullish fundamentals. An arctic cold blast is set to hit the US as Russia cuts off gas supplies to Europe through Ukraine. The failure to extend a supply contract has left some regions in the cold. Europe will have to replace 5% of its gas supply. In the US, an Arctic cold blast is forecasted to bring bitter cold and snow. Oil production in the US is falling short of expectations, raising concerns about peak production. India is expected to be the world’s driver of energy demand growth in 2025.
