Apple has agreed to pay $95 million to settle a lawsuit claiming Siri violated users’ privacy. Mobile device owners complained that Siri recorded private conversations and shared them with third parties. The class period runs from 2014 to 2024, with millions of users eligible to receive up to $20 per device.
Plaintiffs alleged Siri triggered targeted ads based on private conversations. Apple denied wrongdoing but agreed to the settlement. The $95 million settlement is about nine hours of profit for Apple. A similar lawsuit against Google’s Voice Assistant is pending in California.
