Amazon Web Services (AWS) plans to invest $11 billion in Georgia, creating 550 jobs and solidifying the state’s position as a digital innovation hub. The investment will support AI infrastructure and job growth, including technical roles and construction positions. AWS has already contributed significantly to Georgia’s economy, with $18.5 billion in investments since 2010.

AWS data centers in Georgia will support AI development and cloud computing, meeting increased demand for advanced technology. The company’s flexible data centers can efficiently run GPUs for traditional workloads and AI models. The investment is expected to create hundreds of technical jobs and support local construction and data center supply chain positions.

Amazon’s ongoing investments in Georgia have contributed to economic growth, with $20.1 billion added to the state’s GDP and support for thousands of jobs. AWS Vice President Roger Wehner highlighted the company’s commitment to digital innovation through cloud and AI technologies, praising state and local leaders for fostering an environment conducive to bold investments.

In addition to infrastructure investments, AWS has made significant contributions to renewable energy in Georgia, including the development of eight solar farms. The company’s Disaster Relief Hub in Atlanta has also played a vital role in delivering essential supplies to communities affected by natural disasters. Douglas County Commission Chairwoman Romona Jackson Jones described AWS’s initial investment as a game-changer for the county’s infrastructure and AI support.
