U.K. stocks closed lower with declines in technology, financial, and consumer goods sectors. The FTSE 100 dropped 0.30% in London. Top performers included Persimmon PLC, up 5.49%, and Airtel Africa Plc, up 3.53%. JD Sports Fashion PLC fell 6.36%, Next PLC declined 3.44%. Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the London Stock Exchange.
Shares in JD Sports Fashion PLC hit 52-week lows, dropping 6.36%. Gold Futures for February delivery rose 0.11% to $2,681.66 per ounce. Crude oil for March delivery fell 0.74% to $76.73 a barrel. Brent oil for March dropped 0.77% to $80.39 a barrel. GBP/USD held steady at 1.22, while EUR/GBP rose to 0.84. The US Dollar Index Futures fell 0.48% to 109.29.
