Yukon Metals discovers high-grade copper zone at AZ property, showing significant mining potential.

Yukon Metals Corp. announced results from its exploration program on the 11,755-hectare AZ project, discovering extensive surface copper mineralization with values up to 3.49% Cu at Chair Mountain. The drilling is planned at three key projects: Star River gold-silver property, Birch copper-gold property, and AZ property, showing significant potential for copper, precious, and critical metals discoveries.

In September 2024, Yukon Metals conducted a helicopter-supported mapping and sampling program on its AZ property, identifying copper mineralization along a 1.2km gossan zone near Chair Mountain. Rock-chip samples showed copper content ranging from 0.12-3.49%, indicating significant mineralization in the region.

Chair Mountain, part of YMC’s massive AZ property, exhibited extensive surface copper mineralization. Historical work in the area revealed samples with significant copper, gold, and silver content, indicating the presence of valuable minerals. Rock-chip samples collected downstream of the mountain also showed promising gold values.

The Nutzotin area, located northwest of Chair Mountain, showed skarn showings with high copper and silver content. Historical chip sampling returned variable copper values, with the best values reaching 0.6% copper over 12m. Composite grab samples over a granite stock northeast of the skarn showings also returned significant copper mineralization.

The AZ property, prospected in the early 1990s, exhibited copper mineralization with rock float assays showing high copper, silver, and gold content. The region has a history of small placer operations and holds significant potential for mineral discoveries. The property’s geology is comparable to nearby deposits across the Yukon-Alaska border.
