In December, UK CPI rose by 0.3% m/m, slightly below the expected 0.4%, with annual inflation at 2.5% for the ninth consecutive month. US inflation expectations tempered despite a higher figure of 3.2% y/y. Producer prices have been negative at -1.5% y/y, impacting consumer prices. The Bank of England may cut rates due to weak producer prices and economic activity, potentially fueling higher inflation expectations. GBP/USD is at 1.22, showing potential for growth towards 1.24-1.26 after a recent 5.5% decline. A confident rise could indicate a global reversal for the pair.
