Taiwan stock market gains seen, expected to open higher on positive global forecast

The Taiwan stock market has seen gains in recent sessions, closing just beneath the 23,150-point mark and is expected to open higher on Monday. The positive global forecast for Asian markets is driven by an improved outlook for interest rates. On Friday, the TSE ended higher, with gains in the plastic and cement sectors. The index rose 0.53 percent to 23,148.08. In the US, major averages closed near session highs on Friday, with the Dow up 0.78 percent. Stocks were boosted by decreasing treasury yields and optimism about interest rates. Federal Reserve Governor Christopher Waller suggested multiple rate cuts could happen this year. Oil prices fell on Friday but rose about 1 percent for the week.
