Scatec ASA has signed a 15-year Contract-for-Difference with Opcom in Romania to cover 70% of estimated solar production. The contracts were awarded in Romania’s first CfD auction funded by the EU Modernisation Fund, with 1.5 GW of solar PV and onshore wind awarded. Scatec’s estimated total capital expenditure for the solar plant is EUR 140 million, with financial close and construction expected in the second half of 2025. Scatec will have a 65% ownership stake in the solar plants, with the remaining owned by partner Defic Globe. Romania offers attractive market fundamentals for renewable energy projects.
