Indian markets open higher, IT stocks rise, some individual stocks gain, some fall

Indian shares opened higher today, with the S&P/BSE Sensex up 0.3 percent and NSE Nifty up 0.3 percent. IT stocks like Wipro and Tech Mahindra rose, while Tata Consumer Products, UltraTech Cement, and Mahindra & Mahindra gained around 2 percent. Hindustan Unilever fell 1.6 percent, while Polycab India jumped 3.6 percent on strong Q3 results. Persistent Systems soared 10 percent, and BPCL fell 1 percent despite a 20 percent rise in Q3 net profit. Laurus Labs added 2 percent, and Pidilite Industries surged 8.5 percent on a 9 percent rise in quarterly net profit. Zensar Technologies jumped 9.7 percent.
